THE Muslim community members in the district have demanded thai the faulty caste certificates being issued to Muslims be immediately stopped and the correct ones be issued in its place.

A delegation of the Muslim leaders including Jameer Hakim, Maheboob Ali. Jafar Ali. Irfan sheikh, Afsar Khan and Shagir Sheikh called on the Sub divisional Officer (SDO) of Aheri and submitted him a memorandum in this regard.

As per State Government's recent decision to give 5 percent reservation to muslims. the community members are being given Caste Certificates. But instead of mentioning Muslim as a caste, the surnames such as Sheikh. Sayyad. Pathan etc are being mentionedas the caste of Muslims, which is wrong, the   memorandum stated.

Actually Sheikh, Sayyad. Rattan is not our caste. They are our surnames and our caste is Muslim, hence while issuing the caste cerlificaies the Muslim caste should be mentioned, it was demanded.

The caste certificates being issued presendy are wrong hence they should be stopped and fresh certificaies be  issued,  (he  delegation demanded.

The mailer will also be taken up with the Chief Minister, said the leaders.
