6 held for attack on scribe, Shiv Sena distt vice-president

SIX persons have been arrested for attack on senior journalist Ganesh Bais and Shiv Sena's District Vice President Harihar Linganwar in Hotel Revati. the other day. The attack is being widely condemned in Yavatmal. Bais has sustained serious injuries on his eyes. Linganwar. who has been seriously injured in the attack, is being trcaicd at a private hospital.

According to information. Ganesh Bais and Harihar Linganwar had gone to Hotel Revati to book a room. In the lift of the hotel, representatives of a seed company were also present and were discussing some issue regarding seeds. Listening to there conversation. Linganwar expressed his views regarding die issue being discussed. This, however, angered the representatives.

The seed company had organised a party for its representatives at the Hotel and these people were at the hotel to attend the party. They were allegedly in an inebriated condition. Taking unkindly the remarks made by Linganwar. these representatives allegedly started beating him. They also took away his gold chain and Rs 52.000 cash from his wallet, it is alleged. When Bais intervened to save Linganwar. he. too. was allegedly beaten black and blue by the representatives. After seriously injuring Bais and Linganwar. the representatives fled the spot. On getting information. MLA Sanjay Rathod and DSP Sanjay Darade reached the spot. Cops arrested Sanjay Maske. Mahesh Gavai. Rahul Singh. Prashant Deshmukh. Nilesh Pundalik and Rohit Bharatsingh Rana from a room in the hotel. Offences have been registered against the six persons under section 375 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are on.
