Why Yug was killed?

WAS it an urge for quick money or was it revenge that led to eight-year-old Yug Chandak's chilling murder? As the city boiled in anger and cops probed various angles to ascertain the motive behind the killing, it has been established that Yug had to pay the price of his sharp mind with his life.

Ransom was certainly not the reason behind Yug's kidnapping and killing. The accused. Rajesh Daware. wanted to murder the innocent kid who had exposed the former's misdeeds while working as computer operator with Chandak Dental Clinic.

"The Hitavada' has obtained certain facts on which the cops are interrogating the two accused. Daware and Arvind Singh.

Daware wanted to settle scores with Yug and his father Dr Mukesh Chandak after the kid caught him redhanded in his misdeeds at the clinic. Daware hatched a plan to kill Yug because of whom he had to lose his job. The other accused, Arvind Singh. was misled by Daware.

Yug was a sharp and alert kid. He used to visit his father's clinic and often played games on computers. Daware. who also used to sit at the counter, often took extra money from patients at the clinic. However, the amount in the computerised data always matched the official charges prescribed by DrChandak. Daware used to pocket the extra amount.

Daware once charged extra money from a paiieni in the presence of Yug. He ignored the kid's presence presuming that Yug was too small to understand things. But an intelligent boy dial he was Yug immediately alerted his father. Dr Chandak checked the records and caught Daware red-handed. He allegedly reprimanded the accused in the presence of paiiems and oilier staff and gave marching orders.

Daware took a grudge of this humiliation and hatched a plan to eliminate Yug to teach Dr Chandak a lesson. He contacted Arvind Singh and told him that they could become rich if they kidnapped the boy. Arvind Singh immediately agreed to Daware's plan.

The duo kidnapped Yug after lie returned in his school bus on Monday. While they were taking him on a scootcrctte. Daware allegedly placed a handkerchief dipped in chloroform on his mouth. They then took the boy under a bridge on Lonkhairi-Patansawangi Road. When Yug regained consciousness, they strangled him and smashed his head with stones. In an attempt lodestroy evidence, (hey removed his school shirt and covered the body with big teak leaves. While fleeing, they also placed a huge boulder on his face.

The ransom call of Rs lOcrore to Dr Chandak was an attempt to mislead the police. It was followed by another call from 'Mohsin' but the amount was quoted Rs 5 crorc for Yug's relea.se.

The culprits then went to their respective houses but landed in police dragnet after Dr Chandak expressed suspicion on Daware. It appears that they had already killed Yug when his father lodged a complaint with Lakadganj Police.
