Leopard skin seized in Warud, 2 arrested
A TEAM of forestmen from Amravati arrested two persons from Katol for selling a leopard skin in Warud Forest Range on Sunday and seized the skin from them.
When contacted. Sanjeev Gaur. Chief Conservator of Forest (Territorial). Amravati, said that the two persons had made a dealing with a party at Warud and accordingly they were taking the leopard skin there. On a tip-off. the department laid a trap at the spot and arrested two persons for selling the skin, he added.
Forestmen were not accessible to Gaur on cellphone, hence he could not gel further information in the case. Names of the accused could not be known so far.
The team is making investigation into poaching of the leopard and obtaining the skin by two accused persons. An offence has been registered under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act. 1972.
