Dhanora residents protest against atrocities of cop
THE people of Dhanora. a taluka place in the district staged intensive agitation of'Rasta Roko and Dhanora Bandh on Sunday in protest against the atrocious activities of an Incharge of Dhanora Police Station. Vaibhav Mali.
Taking cognisance of the agitation, the PSO was immediately traasferred to Asarali in Sironcha taluka by the Superintendent of Police and it was only after this order that the agitation was withdrawn by the people.
The people of Dhanora and the area were so aggrieved by the style of functioning of Mali that they burnt his effigy during the agitation and bursted crackers amidst beating of drums to celebrate his transfer.The agitation started when a senior journalist from Dhanora Allauddin Lalani was manhandled and given ill-treatment by PSOSachin Mali following a complaint against him with the Police Station. The PSO reached my home in the morning and without telling anything dumped me intoajeeplikean animal, snatched away my mobile phone and look me to Police Station, Lalani. who is also the President of Taluka Patrakar Sangha, told this reporter.
As soon as the people of Dhanora came to know this, they immediately closed their shops and started Rasta Roko agitation demanding strict action against Mali. The traffie on interstate Gadchiroli Rajnandgaon road closed for about seven hours.
The Gadchiroli Ml.A Or Namdeo Usendi also rushed to Dhanora after getting the news of people's agitation. He tried to pacify the agitators but they were not ready to withdraw the agitation unless Mali is transferred, told Dr Usendi over phone.
