Dairy Development Deptt surrenders 4,445 posts
UNCERTAINTY scares in the lace of several officials and employees working in Government dairies and related establishments as Dairy Development Department has revised its draft pattern and has decided to surrender as many as 4,445 posts. From Vidarbha region alone, as many as 564 posts have been termed 'excess'.
This is the third time in past 11 years that the sanctioned number of posts has been scaled down, said sources in the department. Prior to the year 2003. Dairy Development Department had a sanctioned strength of 13.501 posts and 70 posts of Co-operation Department attached to it. Following a review of requirement of staff after closure of some units, handling of milk at Government Dairies and cooling centres, the department had arrived at a conclusion in 2003 that 4.920 posts were 'extra.
Since then, in 2006. more 109 posts were termed as 'excess citing the reason that most of the milk transport from Government dairies was being done through private vehicles. The private vehicles were roped in citing the Bombay High Court decision that vehicles in use for over eight years should not be in service any more. Recently, for the third time in past 11 years, a review of sanctioned strength was taken by a high-level committee on July 19,2014. It was found that of a total 8.542 sanctioned posts, as many as 4,445 should be surrendered The revised draft pattern of the department has been approved accordingly.
The surrendered posts include 35 of Class-A. 68 of Class-B. 1,738 of Class-C, and the highest 2.604 of Class-D. Sources said that the Class-D employees are at the greatest loss as 2.604 of their posts have been surrendered and only 1.676 have been kept as new sanctioned strength. Of the total surrendered posts, those lying vacant for past some time, have been treated as 'lapsed'. The employees thus rendered 'excess will be absorbed on posts of same rank wherever else there is vacancy, but only till the dale of their retirement. On retirement of serving personnel on surrendered positions, the posts will automatically get abolished. Of a total 4.445 posts surrendered by Dairy Development Department, as many as 564 are from Vidarbha region alone. These posts in 23 places ranging from Nagpur Dairy to Cooling Centre at Paratwada in Amravati district have been rendered "excess. Of these 564 also, the highest 281 posts surrendered are at Nagpur Dairy only.
