PAPs demand to start Ekona open cast mine
THE Project affected people from villages. Ekona .Marda. Wanoja, Charur (Khati) and others gheraoed WCL Kuchana office and submitted memorandum demanding to start Ekona open cast mine immediately as the WCL has done notary of their farms one and half year hack and their sufferance is knew no hounds. I( may be mentioned there are two proposed open cast mines at Ekona and Marda villages in the tehsil. The WCL authorities acquired 300 hectare land from the farmers promising them handsome compensation and employment. The notary of the land was also done and 300 hectare more is required for the second proposed mine. However since more than one year, the WCL authorities failed to take initiative and the work has not yet commenced. The farmers are unable to gel loan on the farmland and are running pillar to post for money.
The PAP submitted number of memorandums to the WCL officials but when all went futile they gheraoed the office on Wednesday and discussed the issue with Area Manager Abhash Chandra Singh who heard the plea and promised to peep into the matter immediately. The first mine will be floated soon till March 2015. promised Singh.
