STUDENTS of Pratibha Nritya Mandir captivated a large audience and lovers of Bharatnatyam. while performing under the watchful eye of Guru Ratnam Janardlianan ai Dr Vasantrao Deshpande hall on Sunday last.
The programme was organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the dance school.
Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS). Satish K Goyal IRS. chief guest applauded the institution and Guru for the commendable task and encouraged the upcoming artists.
The programme opened with the traditional prayer song of Lord Ganesha, followed by a series of Bharaianatyam items, preserving its pristine tradition, featuring both Junior and Senior group students. The recital Begum with Pushpanjali, an invocation item for worship of God through the offering of flowers, in Ragatn Gombheera Nattai. Chalusara Ekam Ttial, This was followed by Saraswati Vandana set to Ragam Mohanakalyam and Aadi Thai, a composition of Bangalore Ramamurthy. Other items presented were Devi Stutfii,  Devi Keertanam, Krishna sthuthi. Krishna keerthnam, rendered in different ragas and Thalas of carnal to music. There was an item of Fusion Dance, a combination of two classical dance forms, Mohiniyaitam and Bharainatyam, Nateswar Kauthuvarn. Alarippu and a dramatic padam on Lord Krishna composed by Uthukkadu venkata Subrahmanya Iyer.
The highlight of the second pan of the programme was a dance drama 'Dasavatar" depicting ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu from beautiful compositions of Udunmalaipette Narayanakavi, It was a visual feast to watch young girls depicting the different avatars of the Lord. Guru Ratnam Janardhanan handed Nattuvangam effectively. Other musicians who supported were Sudish Shekhar (Vocal). Susarla Seshu (Mridangam), Shirish Bhalerao (Violin), and S Kumar Banu (Flute). Vaikoni Rama Iyer and Janakiraman Iyer gave the right touch of make-up. Mithun Mitra gave the light effects while swapnil provided sound.Shweta Shelgaonkar compered the programme.
