The couple had deboarded from Gondwana Express when a RPF jawan Prakash Ghodke got suspicious about them on seeing their furtive movements. Earlier some of the relatives of Wairagade at Dhamangaon were searching for the girl and showed the photo of girl that had come on WhatsApp to RPF constable. The RPF jawan immediately recognised the girl and detained the couple. Earlier after kidnapping the girl from her Ulhas Nagar residence on Friday afternoon the accused duo boarded train and reached Akola station. Kate contacted Wairagade and allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000. who approached Ajni police about the same. Deputy Commissioner of Police {Zone IV) Chandra Kishor Mina put a special team into investigation and they kept tab of the accused on basis of his mobile location. The police learnt that the accused couple went to Madhya Pradesh on Friday night and again returned to Maharashtra. The accused duo were continuously changing their location so as to avoid being traced by cops.
Meanwhile, parents of the girl deposited Rs 30.000 in bank account of the Kate's wife. Kate withdrew the money from an ATM. The accused then boarded in general compartment of 12405 Bhusawal-New Delhi Gondwana Express ai Akola station at 7.30 am. The toddler girl was repeatedly crying and this put a spanner in their plan and the couple decided to deboard at Dhamanga on railway station. As two could not provide clear answers, the suspicion of RPF jawan grew and in the meantime the picture of the girl was also shown to jawan. The girl was crying continuously as due to constant travelling she had developed fever.RPI Inspector Peter Garvin informed "The Hitavada' that as the girl's photograph was circulated on Whats App messenger. Some WhatsApp user swayamsevak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) approached the constable and informed him that the girl is kidnapped. The RPF constable immediately deboarded the accused couple with the girl from the train and look them at wailing hall of the railway station. The news was spread in the town rapidly and hundreds of villagers gathered at the spot.
Assistant Commandant of RPP Sanjay Choudhary dispatched Wardha RPF staff to the spot and took the accused to Pulgaon and then to Wardha station. Sources informed that there was chaos like situation at Dhamangaon station and villagers were in angry mood and were determined to (each a lesson to the accused. RPF recovered Rs 23,762 from Kate's possession.
The accused along with the girl were later handed overto Ajni police led by PI Bajrang Salunkhe and API Ravi Rajulwar. PI Salunkhe informed that the accused lias been booked under sections 163.366 (A) of Indian Penal Code. The couple would be produced in the court on Monday, he said. Sources informed that the accused had recently arrived from Goa and befriended the Wairagade family. The family also helped them in finding a rented house. On Friday morning, the couple took the 10-month-old girl from Ulhas Nagar residence of the victim on pretext of purchasing clothes for her and thereafter vanished from city.
