High Court to re-open today


HIGH Court will re-open after four-week summer vacation from Monday. Nagpur bench will have three division benches (DBs) and six single benches and will work with full strength of 12 judges. Justice Bhushan Gavai will continue as Senior Administrative Judge and will also head constitution bench. Four judges from Nagpur bench including Justice Ravi Deshpande. Justice Atul Chandurkar, Justice Prainod Kode have been posted at principal seat of Bombay High Court while Justice P R Bora will be at Aurangabad. Justice Z A Haq. Justice Sunil Shukre. Justice Vishwas Jadhav and Justice P N Deshmukh will be at Nagpur bench from June 9.
The post-summer roster has also indicated that all courts will take only final hearing of old cases at least one day in a week or in the afternoon session for three days in a week, apparently to reduce old pendency. Priority will be given to Supreme Court expedited mailers and senior citizen matters.
Justice Bhushan Gavai along with Justice Sunil Shukre will handle all civil writ petitions, all public interest litigations (PILs), all letter patent appeals (LPAs). all first appeals, all tax appeals. Justice Bhushan Dharmadhikari. who headed civil writ division bench before summer vacation will now head the criminal division bench. Justice C V Bhadang Will be his brother-judge. The third division bench will be headed by Justice Vasanti Naik while Justice Vishwas Jadhav will be her broiherjudge and this bench will take civil writ petitions of the years up to 1997 and of the years 1999. 2001 to 2005 and 2011 to 2013 and all family court appeals.
Justice Arun Chaudhari will hear all second appeals and civil work not assigned to other courts. Justice A P Bhaneale will hear civil writ petitions of the years 2000. 2002. 2004.2006.2008.2010.2012 and 2014 while Justice Z A Haq will hear civil writ petitions of the years 1997 to 1999. 2001. 2003. 2005. 2007,2009.2011 and 2013. Justice Haq will also hear civil contempt petitions.
Justice P B Varale has been assigned appeals against orders, civil revision applications, miscellaneous civil applications and first appeals.
Justice M L Tahaliyani has been entrusted with admission, hearing and order matters pertaining to bail and anticipatory bail applications and all applications for cancellation, relaxation or modification of all bail and all applications concerning hail matters; all criminal appeals up to 2000 and from 2011 onwards. Justice P N Deshmukh will hear criminal writ petitions, criminal applications under Section 482 of Cr PC. criminal appeals of years from 2001 to 2010.
Justice Arun Chaudhari will hear and decide applications under Section 11 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. 1996.
Justice Z A Haq has been appointed to hear and decide the matters under the Companies Act. 1956. Banking Regulation Act. 1949and other matters under Arbitration and Conciliation Act. 1996.
