Respite to Marda villagers as GMR Go removes bund


FINALLY the irrigation department has issued order to remove temporary bund constructed on Wardha river at village Marda by a power company which created water woes in the town as many areas were not getting water in scorching sun.
It may be mentioned that, a power company located in Mohabala MIDC area had constructed cement bund on Wardha river in village Marda and restricted the water flow which resulted in water scarcity in the town and The Hitavada took up the issue.
The 60.000populationof the town gets water from Wardha river. There is water tank at village Tulana on Wardha river. The water (low coming from Marda village was restrictedas GMR Company had constructed cement concrete bund on the river violating the rules laid down by irrigation department.
Actually the company has sought permission of temporary bund, but a cement concrete bund was constructed and the town was facing water shortage and most of the areas in the town had no water supply. The people in the scorching sun were facing acute water crisis.
Even the villages Patala. Tulana, Karanji. Ashti and others were not getting water as the flow had dried up.
Chhotu Sheikh, Water Supply Committee chief of MC complained against it to the irrigation department and the department notified the company to remove the bund immediately. Removal the bund provided respite residents got respite.
