Police jawan killed in encounter with Naxals at Gyarpatti


A POLICE jawan was killed in an encounier that look place between police and Naxals on Thursday night in Gyarapatti forest area.
The police jawans of the District Police Force were conducting routine Antinaxal patrolling in Gyarapatti area when the Naxals hiding in the jungle started indiscriminate firing on them.
The police too retaliated the fire in self-defense in which a police jawan Umesh Pandurang Jawle (28) was killed on the spot.
On searching the spot, police found one country made gun. one walkie talkies, two pittus etc.
At least three Naxalites are suspected to have been killed in this firing. The outlaws succeeded in taking away their bodies, informed the police.
Anti-naxal operations have been intensified in the area following the incident.

DIG Ravindra Kadam, SPSuvez Haque, Additional SPs Rajkumar Shinde. Shashikumar Meena. Resident Deputy Collector Vilas Thakre. Project Officer of ITDP P Shiv Shankar laid wreaths to pay last respects.
Total 21 rounds of gun were fired in the air as a token of respect to the jawan. Umesh Jawle was a resident of village Mcndha in Usmanabad district.
