Special drive to review voters' list begins

A SPECIAL drive for reviewing voters' lists began on Monday. The drive will continue in the district till July 31 in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State. The scheduled programme covers all five Assembly constituencies  Akola East. Akola West, Akot. Balapur and Munijapur. Election Commission of India has issued directives through State Commission for the drive and District Collectorate has been instructed to execute voters' list review programme in the district. According to the schedule of the drive, draft voters' lists will be published at all polling booths in district. Voters are directed to lodge claims and complaints up to June to 30. All requests for new enrollment of voters, corrections in existing names of voters and chances in respect of address, age shall he entertained by voting centrelevel registration officer. Four days - June 21. 22,28 and 29 - are specially reserved for the purpose at all voting centres in all Assembly constituencies of the district.
Claims and objections from voters would be settled by July 15 after which updating of database would be completed on or before July 25. At the end of the special review drive, final lists of voters will be made public on July 31 at the end of the special voters' review drive. District administration has geared up for undertaking drive effectively with the help of representatives of political parties, it has been gathered.
