'80% of health problems arise due to contaminated drinking water'


IMPORTANCE of clean drinking water, which is the basic need of human being, should be made known 10 every villager. Maintaining the quality of water, preventing its contamination through active participation of villagers is important. This was stated by Nagpur Zilla Parishad President Sandhya Gotmare.
Gotmare was speaking during a workshop on Quality of Water, at Ahasaheb Khedkar Sabhagruha of Zilla Parishad. here. The workshop was organisation by Water and Sanitation Mission of the Zilla Parishad. ChairpersonofWomenand Child Welfare Committee Nanda Lohabare, Chairperson of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Committee Varsha Dhopte. Zilla Parishad member Amhadas Ukey and Asha Gaikwad. Deputy CEO Wasudcv Bhandarkar. Health offiecr Dr Milind Ganvcer. Addilional Health officer Dr Yogesh Savai were present at the inaugural function.
Vice-President Chandrashekhar Chikhale said that Panchayat Raj institutions should be strengthened for maintaining quality of water at village level.
Bhandarkar made introductory remarks. Dr Ganveer spoke about importance of clean drinking water and its protection. About 80% of health problems arise because of con-laminated drinking waier. He stressed the need of periodical testing of water samples, use of decomaminants and storage.
Dr Savai also spoke on the occasion. Chandravardhan Parulkargave information about testing of water samples. Dinesh Masodkar conducted the proceedings. Anil Rajedhar proposed a vote of thanks, informs a press release.
