Paoni RFO Jaiswal, two others suspended in Pusda illicit felling case
FOREST Department on Monday placed under suspension Range ForestOfficer(RFO). Round Officer and Forest Guard of Paoni Forest Range for their involvement in illicit felling of precious trees in protected forest area of Pusda beat worth Rs 20 lakh. However, reliable sources claim that the value of trees could be around Rs 50 lakh.
When contacted. Shailesh Temhhurnikar. Chief Conservator of Forest (Territorial). Nagpur. said that on the basis of preliminary enquiry report. M D Jaiswal. RFO. S R Lanjewar. Round Officer, and T S Mohammad. Forest Guard, are found involved in the case prima facie. Therefore, he immediately suspended Jaiswal and Lanjewar and asked P K Mahajan. Deputy Conservator of Forest. 10 suspend Mohammad.
Mahajan informed that he issued suspension order of Mohammad in the evening. PDMasram. Divisional Forest Officer (Vigilance), is the investigating officer, and would submit detailed report to Tembhurnikar shortly.
Forest officials had detained one Prcmlal Tamscr for cutting the teak/miscellaneous trees illegally in compartment no: 299 in protected forest, situated near Bawanthadi submergence area, on June 27 and made enquiries. They found that this illicit felling wasdone in connivance with field staff. The court has now granted him bail.
Masram is making further investigation into the case. Tembhurnikar and Mahajan. who visited the spot two days ago.
