4G mobile tower work stalled after residents gherao Mpl Commissioner
LOCAL people led by a corporator, on Monday, stalled the installation of a 4G mobile tower of Reliance company in Tukuin area of the city. They also gheraoed the Municipal Commissioner after which the work was stopped. They were protesting the lower in wake of possible health hazards to people living in the area. Reliance Company has been Hying to install 100 mobile phone tower and carry out underground cabling.. Chandrapur Municipal Corporation had granted permission for the work in the general meeting held recently. However, many social organisations and Congress party corporators are opposed to the towers. Activists of Chandrapur Zilla Arogya Sangarsh Samiti had staged a dhorna in this connection. A delegation of 34 corporators along with Ramdas Raipure of Chandrapur Zilia Arogya Sangarsh Samiti submitted a memorandum of demands to Collector Dr Deepak Mhaisekar.
On Monday afternoon, residents from Tukum area stalled the lower installation work. Later, they also gheraoed the Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Shembarkar and demanded to stop the work immediately.
The Commissioner ordered to seize material and other equipment of 4G mobile tower and accordingly the staff of CMC confiscated all the material on Monday evening.
