Chanda bandh, dharna observed for medical college demand
CHANDRAPUR Zilla Arogya Sangarsh Samiti. headed by Naresh Pugalia. senior Congress leader, on Friday, staged dharna and observed total 'Chandrapur bandh' from dawn to dusk to press demand for establishment of Government Medical College and cancellation of installation of 4G mobile lower in the city.
The State Government had sanctioned a Government Medical College (GMC) for the district. Later, a team of Medical Council of India (MCI) visited Chandrapur city to take stock of the situation of Civil Hospital and TB Hospital for the Government Medical College. Despite recommendation and suggestion of MCI. the State Government is delaying starting GMC in the district, said Pugalia.
Moreover, government has not recruited any staff of medical college including Dean of the College. An angry Pugalia stated that people have already taught a lesson to Congress party in the Lok Sabha elections. Despite this, the State Government is delaying process of establishment of GMC in the district. The issue of GMC in Chandrapur should be resolved or else Congress parry will have to face the consequence, warned Pugalia while addressing media persons in the press conference held at Gandhi Square. He. along with senior citizens, staged a daylong dharna to press the demand on Friday.
Moreover, he also requested Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to intervene in the issue of establishing around 1OO mobile to were of Reliance Industry in the city. The Reliance Company has been trying to install Mobile Tower and underground cabling. But Chandrapur tans have been falling victims to severe radiations of the Mobile Towers and suffering from variousdiseases. In spite of that the Reliance Company sought permission for installing 100 Mobile Towers and underground cable in die city and the CMC granted permission to the Company recently. However, many social organisation and Congressmen also raised objections over the issue. Activists of Chandrapur Zilla Arogya Sangarsh Samiti also demanded (o lake appropriate decision over installing of 100 mobile towers in the city. A delegation of 34 Corporators of CMC along with Ramdas Raipure of Chandrapur Zilla Arogya Sangarsh Samiti submitted a memorandum of demands to District Collector Dr Deepak Mhaisekar addressed to Chief Minister in this regard.
