Implement sub-schemes to improve water storage in villages, officials told


RANJIT Kamble. Slate Minister for Water Supplies and Sanitation, has directed officials associated with Water And Irrigation Department to implement sub-schemes initiated by the Government to improve water storage in villages in the district that may face water scarcity due to the delay in monsoon.
He was addressing a review meeting on scarcity of water and fodder in the district held at the Collectorate on Friday. Sanjay Bhagwat. Additional Collector. Sunil Gadhe. Resident Deputy Collector. Pawar. Chief Officer of Municipal Council and senior officials with departments of Water Supply. Irrigation and Agriculture were present on the occasion.
Kamble further mentioned that it is wise to plan out supply of drinking water to citizens even though water-levels in irrigation projects in the district are satisfactory and officials should guide on economic utilization of the same. In Dham project, present water storage is 12.91 bcm and from  that 3.5 bcm  is reserved for Wardha cily and 6.46 bcmforCeniral Railway. MIDCand Other industries, added Kamhle. He also pointed out at the availability water for supply in Deoli, Pulgaon, Arvi and Hinganghat tehsils.
Sanjay Bhagwat informed that there was good rise in ground water level in the district till May. But due to scorching Sun throughout May and June, the ground-water-level has depicted a little. Water scarcity may occur in Vadhona. Ashti and Pimpalgaon in Arvi tehsil, Palora in Karanja tehsil. Aasalgaon, Mangli.Mahagaon in Hinganghat tehsil and Upada in Samudrapur tehsil observed bhagwat.
Talking about fodder scarcity. Additional Collector said that tehsil dars in respective places should review the situation.
Babusaheh Barhaie. DAO. Shailendra Meshram. Deputy District Collector, J K Thakur. Mahajan. Ground Water Expert, officials of Rural Water Supplies. Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran. Municipal Council, tehsildars. and veterinary department attended the meeting.
