Fake currency of worth Rs 109 cr seized in last five years, reveals RBI


BEWARE, the Indian Currency has greatest threat from counterfeit notes. Reserve Bank of India has forfeited fake currency worth whopping Rs 109 crores in last five years. Contrary to popular perception that only fake notes of Rs 500 or Rs 1.000 denomination are pumped by antinalional forces, the RBI has informed that fake currency in denomination of Rs Five. Rs Ten. Rs 20. Rs 50 and Rs 100 is also in circulation. This information was obtained by RTI Activist Abhay Kolarkar from RBI recently. In last five years, the RBI seized 23.44.763 counterfeit currency in different parts of the country. The maximum 12.90.355 notes of Rs 500 denomination were seized while 3.81,574 notes of Rs 1000 denomination were seized from different parts.
During last one year, the RBI seized counterfeit notes worth of Rs 24.84 crores. The maximum 11.00.35.000 fake currency were
