PSI, 4 cops held for seeking bribe from truckers
ANTI-CORRUPTION BUREAU squad caught one on-duty PSI and four policemen of Balapur Highway Police while they were asking for bribe from truck drivers on the Highway on Friday afternoon.
Three truck drivers had lodged a complaint with ACB on Thursday about being asked for bribe.
The complainant had stated that on the Balapur Highway, policemen demand Rs 1.100 from them.
On Friday afternoon, the squad of ACB travelled in the cabin of the trucks. As usual PSI Bawaskar and four policemen slopped the three trucks on the highway near Balapur.
They demanded Rs 1.100 from the truck drivers, but as one of them noticed someone sitting in the cabin, he fell something amiss and warned others.
The trucks were allowed to pass. However the demand for money was made and ACB squad arrested PSI and four policemen on charges of demanding bribe.
All of them were brought to Akola in the afternoon.
ACB DySP Uttam Jadhav was in Balapur to monitor further investigations in the case.
