'Cops should refrain from counselling rape victims'

 

"POLICE should mil do counselling of rape victims as they are generally not trained for that. Instead of having a positive impact, they can end up confusing the already perturbed victim. Their duty is to register offence and investigate the case. They should leave counselling pan to us and our authorised trainers." said Sushiben Shah. Chairperson of Maharashra State Women Commission, as she mixed no words to send a message across. She along with other members of the Commission were in Amravati on Monday for divisional-level hearing of the Commission.
At the press conference held here. Shah further said that a woman approaches the the police only when her courage and patience ends. "A woman victim, of rape or domestic violence.      becomes     alienated
