Govt readies land units for 170 surrendered Naxals at Gadchiroli


IN A major boost lo rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalsin Gadchiroli area. Government has given nod to allot land units for surrendered Naxals. Administration of Gadchiroli district has also identified plots for 170 surrendered Naxals who have been identified as beneficiaries.
Assistant Collector of Gadchiroli R Shiv Shankar (IAS probationer) confirmed the development while talking to 'The Hitavada". saying it would take around two months for completion of all formalities for allotment of the plots.
The officer further informed that a huge Government land has been identified on Gadchiroli-Chandrapur         Stale
Highway behind Navegaon village. Land levelling work has started and it will be completed very soon.
There are 176 plots admeasuring 30x46 sq feet each. About 40% land of total area will remain as open space at the site, he said. "The surrendered Naxals would get benefit under Indira Awas Yojana run by State Government." This means a substantial cost of construction will be borne by the Government.
Special Inspector General (Spl IGP) Ravindra Kadam said that police was ready with list of 170 surrendered Naxals. They have laid down arms during past 10-ycars and they would be entitled for benefits of the scheme. It may be mentioned here that ten Naxals. including a deputy platoon
