Leopard rescued at Vasco
IASCO: In a joint operation, the forest department and the Indian Navy rescued a two and a half year old female Leopard at Bimvel Beach by laving a trap in the wee hours on Friday.
According to
information available provided by the forest department personnel, the Leopard was trapped in a cage when she came to drink water at a spring at the Bimvel beach.
Noticing the leopard, the commanding officer INS Hansa Deepak Bajpai. lieutenant commander officer on the duty Prateek Pachauri besides others intimated to the forest department. The team of the forest department included forest guard Mahadev Naik, rescuer Damodar Polaji and Julio Quadros, driver abbay Bhandari and Krupesh Dessai under the guidance of range forest officer Prakash Salelkar besides animal rescuer attached to the People For Animals based at Shantinagar Johnson Stephen immediately rushed to the site and took the trapped leopard to the forest department office based in Margao.

The Navhind Times, Damodar Polaji
informed that the team of forest department had laid a trap late Thursday evening after Indian Naval authorities complained about the menace created by a leopard in the vicinity ol the naval base. "We knew that the Leopard would come to drink water at Bimvel", stated Polaji.
The leopard was taken to the forest department office based at Margao and then it would be released in the wild life sanctuary after the consent of the senior officials, told Polaji.
