Install electricity metres outside homes, SNDL to customers
SPANCO Nagpur Discom Limited (SNDL). the power distribution Franchisee of MSEDCL. has asked its customers to install electricity metres outside their homes that would ensure regular meter reading and accurate billing. In old part of city where SNDL supplies power, the power metres are placed inside homes and more often meter reader during their round find homes locked. This in turn leads to billing such customers as per average and often leads to complaints of inflated hills. With the meters installed safely outside homes. the reader can always record the exact units consumed during a billing cycle and the consumer is relieved of the stress of imprecise billing, the SNDL release said.
Alternatively, working couples can lake advantage of the voluntary meter reading SMS service and send the meter recording on 7507771777. This way there is self compliance of the billing information on the part of consumers.

Business Head. SNDL. Sonal Khurana.has appealed to consumers to get their meters placed at an appropriate place outside the house. SNDL is reaching out to its consumers and provide them the best of services." The issue of locked premises has been a major concern for both SNDL and consumers since past few months. for instance, it a customer was unavailable at home for three successive meter readings, he was being billed on an average basis as per his last six months of electricity usage. When in the fourth month. his exact meter reading was actually based on the balance of units which he hadn't paid for over the last three months which got added to his bill. As a result, there was a difference in his bill for the fourth month and what he has been paying for the last three months. To address this problem. SNDL is urging customers to get their meters installed outside their homes.
