Ranjit Deshmukh quits Cong, sons contesting on BJP, NCP tickets
FORMER President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Ranjit Deshmukh on
Wednesday resigned from the party citing ill-treatment metcd om to him and also because his elder son is contesting on a BJP ticket from Katol and younger son on NCP ticket from Ramtek. "This has left mi choice before me but 10 resign from primary membership of !he party." claims Dcshmukh in his resignation letter.
Deshmukh had demanded candidature for his son Amol from Ramtek constituency and had conducted many political and non-political events in Ramtek. but the party preferred former Union Minister Subodh Mobile as its nominee.
His elder son Ashish is contesting against his uncle Anil Deshmukh on BJP ticket. Deshmukh was often asked the awkward question about his political leanings in the backdrop of anti-Congress position taken by his sons and he preferred to quit the party.
While doing so, Deshmukh also expressed anguish over the sorry state of affairs prevailing in MPCC and shabby treatment meted out to a person like him who was headed the MPCC twice.
His son Dr Amol has also quit the Congress citing his decision to fight from Ramtek as NCP candidate.
