NACC team to visit Govt Science College on Oct 9


The Government Science College is developing well and efforts are being made to convert it into a Science Institue to provide the higher education to backward area students, said Dr Jairam Khobragade. Principal, while addressing a press conference here the other day.
National Accreditation and Assessment Committee (NAAC) from Bangalore is visiting the college between October 9 and 11 for evaluation. The college is prepared to face the committee. Dr Khobragade said. Presently. 534 students are studying in the college which runs post graduation courses in three subjects of Botany. Chemistry and Zoology. The research facilities have also been started with five approved guides from the college and some 15 students are conducting their research in various subjects, he added.
The construction of hostel buildings is in progress and by the opening of the next academic session, these hostels will be started. Besides providing all the necessary facilities to the students, special care of the economically backward students is also being taken. Dr Khobragadc said. A new initiative of Earn and Learn is also being started to help the poor and needy students, he added.
Various new experiments have been started by the higher education department to ensure social account ability and raise the quality of education. The college would actively participate in such activities to make it a student-oriented institute, the Principal said. Besides, routineedu-cation. extracurricular activities also are being taken up for the all-round development of the students and the college will bag the A grade in the NAAC evaluation.
