THE problem of water scarcity has always troubled people of Chikhli town, but this is likely to change for good now with the Water Supply and Cleanliness Minister Diliprao Sopal sanctioning Rs 20 crore for water scheme. The Minister gave a nod to the works during a meeting held in Mumbai recently in the presencc of Chikhli MLA Rahul Bondre. It may be mentioned here that a water scheme was sanctioned for Chikhli town but it had many lacunae and therefore people were not getting regular water supply, This has led to discontent among the people. Taking note of this. MLA Bondre prepared a proposal for works worth Rs 22 crore and submitted it with the government under Maharashtra Sujal Va Nirmal Abhiyan. After much effort. Rs 20 crore have been ayed for the works. The money will be used 10 install new power pumps of 270 HP at Pentakali Medium Project, constructing road from rest house at Pentakali upto pumping house, repairing pipeline from Pentakali to water filtration plant at C'hikhli. technical repairs of water filtration plant, constructing a high water tank of 13 lakh litre capacity within die premises of the filtration plant, con-strutting a new water tank of 10 lakh litre capacity in SambhajiNagar of Chikhli town, erecting a water tank of 5 lakh litre capacity in Shivaji Garden area. and. more importantly, streamlining the water supply system in the town.

The meeting held in the ministry was attended by Rahul Bondre. Kishor Kadam, Contact Chief of Chikhli Talula Congress Committee, and Vyavhare. Engineer of Water Supply Department.
