Nitin Bhatarkar calls off hunger strike


THE fast unto death launched by Nitin Bhaiarkar. District President, Students' Wing of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) against the anti-students policies of the Gondwana University, Gadchiroli was finally called off after the assurance of Rajesh Tope. Minister for Higher and Technical Education, the other day.
It may be mentioned here that Rajesh Tope, taking consideration of various demands regarding the University and the fast unto death launched by Nitin Bhatarkar. sent Dr Ishwar Mohurle. Gadchiroli to the spot BS liis representative and after long discussion wiih Bhaiarkar on telephone sanctioned all the Unix erMix level demands immediately. He further informed that opening subcentre of the varsity at Chandrapur and appointment of the Vice Chancellor are the Government level issues and assured to take positive action on the said demands within 5 days.
After getting assurance, Vidya Chavan. State President. Women Wing of Nationalist Congress Party and Nilesh Raut. State President of Students' Wing, asked Bhatarkar to call off the hunger dtrike by offering lemon juice.
As per the information. Rajesh Tope had discussed with the students on telephone for about 20 minutes and tried to know (he demands. Tope informed that the file about the formation of Senate and Management Council which is very essential for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor has been already sent from the Governor's office and the Ministry of Higher and Technical Education to the Chief Minister's Office about one year ago.
Tope assured that he would discuss the issue of the formation of Senate and Management Council with the CM and assured to take immediate decision on the formation of the committee and appointment of the Vice-Chancellor. If the proposal for formation of Sub-Centre in Chandrapur is sent by the University to the Government, the Government will positively think on the issue, said Tope. The proposal for reducing the admission fee for Engineering course ic. Rs 23(X) up 10 reasonable level like oilier universities that may afford the students was also kept before the Examination Fees Control Committee and the Committee also agreed to reduce the fees. In his talk with the students. Rajesh Tope said that he personally would look that there will be no anti-students policies by Gondwana University tliat will make them 10 suffer and launch agitations in future and also apologised for the trouble the students had lo face.
While discussing on another demand to refund the fees paid by the students who failed due to mismanagement of the university. Tope said (hat the Ill-Charge Vice Chancellor has presently denied the demand and firm decision will he taken on it after having discussion with the University Administration.
The university administration has agreed to reduce the fees for admission, examination and late fees will be brought down to the level of other universities and such GR will be sent to the university, informed the Vice-Chancellor.
Vidya Chavhan and Nilesh Raut also declared on the occasion that if the assurances given by Rajcsh Tope are not fulfilled, they will launch the hunger strike in front of the University premises.

Rajendra Pulipaka, NItesh Durge. Bhoju Shanna. Babu Shaikh. RameshUrkudc. Mukesh. Nitin Ghubade. Pavan Meshram. Roshan Shaikh, and Ganesh Khutemate took efforts for the successful completion of the hunger strike.
