Over 56,000 farmers

MORE than 56.000 farmers have been covered under the crop insurance scheme in Akola district for the kharip season, said District Collector Arun Shinde at the Independence Day programme held in the Collector ate.
Speaking after flag hoisting ceremony. Shinde mentioned that amount of insurance cover was Rs 53 crore. The district administration aims at disbursing Rs 719 crore agricultural loan out of which Rs 546 crore worth of loans have already been given to farmers, he told.
District Superintendent of Police Chandrakishor Mecna. Managing Director of Mahabeej Dr S K Wankhade Akola Municipal Commissioner Dr Mahendra Kalyankar and Akola Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Arun Unhale were prominently present for the Independence Day function.
Addressing further. Shinde informed that governance has become transparent with the introduction of e-governance system. About 50,000 beneficiaries have been distributed various documents through e-governance. he added.
Various social and government organisations were given away certificates of recognition at the hands of the Collector on the occasion.
Prakash Andhare conducted the programme. Administrative staff attended the ceremony.
