BJP gearing up for Modi's maiden visit to Nagpur
BHARATIYA Janata Party (BJR) is gearing up to accord a grand welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his maiden visit to Orange City on August 21. The party is organising meetings in every nook and corner of the city to make Modi's rally a grand success.
Modi is arriving on Thursday to lay foundation stone of ambitious Metro Rail project and will dedicate to the nation 500x2 MW units of NTPC's Mouda Plant. Official sources said that Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also will grace the occasion.Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari took stock of preparations ahead of Modi's visit, at Gadkari Wada on Sunday evening.
NIT Chairman Pravin Darade, Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Municipal Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, District Collector Abhishek Krishna, and Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural) Dr Aani Singh attended die meeting.
MLAs Krishna Khopde and Chaildrashckhar Bawankule also were present in the meeting apart from NTPC officials.
Gadkari reviewed on-going preparations for Modi's programme at Mouda and Nagpur. He instructed officials to make grand arrangements for parking, proper sitting arrangements for WIPs, and others. Around 1 lakh persons arc likely to witness the launch of Metro Rail project at Kasturchand Park ground in city. Krishna Kliopde. who is also City BJP President, informed 'The Hitavada* that BJP was mobilising party workers for this mega event in the city. The party is organising meetings with party workers in all six Legislative Assembly constituencies in the city. The party has decided to illuminate 10 squares in every Assembly segment and booked hoardings at prominent locations. This programme will be virtual launch of BJP's campaign for ensuing Legislative Assembly election in Vidarbha region. The party is trying to gain the biggest advantage out of this event.
The proposal of Metro Rail project was pending since long. After Narendru Modi took over as Prime Minister and Nagpur MP Nitin Gadkari as Union Surface Transport Minister, the Union Government has sanctioned this mega project for the city, said Krishna Khopde.
