Assembly polls announcement likely on 28th

THE announcement regarding con-duel of Legislative Assembly polls in the State is likely to he made on August 28, and the polling is expected to be conducted in two phases on October 9 and 12.

Highly placed sources in Mumbai said on Monday that Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to make announcement of the election schedule for Legislative Assembly on August 28. After the two-phase polling in October, counting of votes and declaration of results may be scheduled after Diwali. According to sources, the election in Vidarbha and Maraihwada regions is likely to be held in the first phase, on October 9. Polling may be conducted in rest of Maharashtra in second phase, on October 12.

Already, the political parties have started preparations for the ensuing Assembly elections. All major parties have started process for selection of candidates from various constituencies.
