Priyanka inspects Navjyoti Kishori Group work in Dongargaon (Khadi)
SHE came, she saw and she won...yes these were the words of me villagers who mesmerised to see a queue of new brand vehicles for the first lime in the small hamlet and a film actress gelling out in Zilla Parishad School. Yes true is the story that Priyanka Chopra, a goodwill ambassador of UNICEF was here at village Dongargaon (Khadi ) about 4 km from here on Sunday to inspect the work of Navjyoti Kishori Group under Deepshika programme initiated by UNICEF.
Dr Deepak Mhaisekar. District Collector, Louise George, Representative for UNICEF. India. RamGopal. Chief Operating Officer. Barclays India. Rajeshwari. UNICEF, Mumbai and others were prominently present on the occasion. The Bollywood Diva danced, discussed and spent merry making time almost for two hours with the selfhelp group members. Ii was all due to Sadhana Chaudhari. leader of die group who encouraged the kishoris (adolescent) girls to be independent. The girls now focused on their well-being and believe not on sex discrimination. They have learnt saving money, opened bank accounts and selling home made products in the market.
UNICEF look cognisance of Sadhana's Herculean task and invited Priyanka to see the colossal work.
Priyanka who mesmerised and stole die event translated the endeavours to be a step towards empowerment of girls. In the country like India where females are treated a bloi or subordinates, these sieps are positive and upholding. The time has come to recognise self and being confident that a girl is no more interior to a boy.
