BIO-MASS industry was not growing like solar and other sectors in India as there was dearth of feedstock, said Dr Nimba Barathi. Managing Director of Growmore Bio-Tech Limited while speaking at the TiF Huh conference on Clean Tech on Monday.
Dr Barathi who had discovered Beema bamboo as one of the best solution for generating energy said that from Beema bamboo, one can take 40 tonnes of yield per acre every year. One can do long-term contracts from Beema bamboo and it has been proved also. The total cost involved in the cultivation for the first year comes to Rs 1 lakh and after second year, it would be Rs 25.000. Every year, one can take the yield.
"With prices of firewood climbing up from Rs 3.000 to 4.000 per tonne. Beema bamboo is the only solution." he added. In India, no one has considered Beema hamhon as good tool of income.
A team from South Africa had visited his field at Bangalore and they loo have decided to grow Beema bamboo in their fields.
Dr M G Gharpure.  Managing Director of Yajna Fuels who has set aside 10create five entrepreneurs per year said that an entrepreneur should not think that he or she could easily befool customers and extract money. "An entrepreneur has to respect the needs of customers," he said. If an entrepreneur has excess money, he should park in back-end integration. For running clean tech enterprise, entrepreneurs should try to repeal orders, learn tax planning and do negotiation. "An entrepreneur should also plan for recessionary period. Weshould focus on bigger cause and beware of fence-sitters and try to score over competition and increase salary of employees for retention." he suggested.
Uday Kamat. Managing Director of Yash Agro said that there should be supply chain management for bio-mass. When he started making energy from bio-mass i.e rice husk, there was no tariff orders. There was no PPA signed. However, after open access everything changed.
"We have to suffer financial losses. Any entrepreneur should be ready to face lough times by keeping some reserve fro rainy day. Do homework properly to enjoy fruits of success." he said.
