JAYRAJ Sirmukaddam. a 23-year-old city youth. has been honoured by Limca Book of Records, mentioning him as first person with muscular dystrophy sufferer to become graduate engineer BE (IT) in the world. Jayraj's name is mentioned in the silver jubilee edition of tlte book that selects record-holders for their unique achievements in different fields.

The uniqueness about Jay raj's achievement showcases his sheer determination in conquering disability to pursue the engineering degree and coming out with Hying colours. With Duchcne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) one Ls unable to walk or even lift his hand or sit without support. Further, a person cannot even eat food with his hand but hence in this backdrop. Jayraj's achievement is something very unique. Jayraj is working in Persistent System at its Nagpur campus as Software Engineer.

Dystrophy is a genetic problem in which there is progressive deterioration of muscular ceils. After the age of 8-9 walking slops, by 10-11 sufferer even cannot stand on his feet. In Jayraj's case, he was put on wheelchair by 11-12. Though with advancement in age. the patient's condition deteriorates as he cannot pull his hand to change dress or eat food on his own and struggle to maintain balance to sit in chair.

But Jayraj put behind alt (his difficulties and successfully crossed the hurdles 10complete his Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology) with 72 per cent score. He was student of G H Raisoni College of Engineering. With completion of BE (IT) he became first graduate engineer in the world with DMD symptom. Jayraj was meritorious student si nee his school days and had completed SSC with 82 per cent marks {wherein he had distinction in5 subjects from Somal war High School). Then he became first muscular dystrophy sufferer through India to obtain Diploma in Engineering with 70 per cent marks from Government Polytechnic College.
