NIT Board defers decision to hike premium rates in metro region

BOARD of Trustees of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has deferred the decision to increase premium rates for new and old constructions in Metro Region.
NIT sources confirmed that Board of Trustees suggested that NIT should wait for the decision of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) in this regard. Anant Gharad and Dr. Ravindra Bhoyar lohhicd for postponement of the decision.
Directorate of Town Planning has proposed to increase the rates of premium in Metro Region. The hike is applicable to old as well as new construction also.
NIT has been designated as the special planning authority for Metro Region, which covers 3,500 sq km of area spread across 726 villages in nine tehsil of Nagpur district.
Sources claimed that Trustees have postponed the decision in view of ensuing election of Stale Assembly in the month of September-October. The NIT has proposed hike up to 10 per cent in the region. The premium charges are levied for sanction of maps, building permission, and to generate Hind for creation of infrastructure in the area concerned.
Directorate of Town Planning hiked the rates of premium to be charged on constructions from February 13. 2014.
